Movie # 2056 ........................."The Power of the Dog" (netflix)

Movie #2056 "The Power of the Dog" (netflix)  This film is also nominated a lot for critics' choice awards and that figures because it is a bit of an arty film --- that is, it is beautifully photographed, has good music and an intriguing story (esp. the end), and one that demands attention --- it is definitely a slow burn throughout the whole film --- creepy in parts, strange in others, eerie mood --- a tough, uncomfortable watch from beginning to end --- not everything is explained to you at the moment or even by the end --- acting was just okay to me --- not a real standout --- yet, critics' choice nominated the 3 leads -- go figure.  I'd give it a 3.5 for the director's work --- she's Jane Campion and she's one of the best --- the movie reminded me in mood to her other famous one "Piano" --
