Movie #1485 ..........................."Darkest Hour"

Movie #1485 "Darkest Hour" -- I really enjoyed this film.  You could hardly recognize Gary Oldman, the makeup is so believable.  This doesn't go through more than a few weeks of his life, but they are probably the most crucial he even spent --- trying to decide what to do with the soldiers that have been stranded at Dunkirk -- and ultimately to have a standoff or not with Hitler.  It was a deciding factor in WWII, and it was very intriguing to be there in the "room where it happened" --- where big decisions on the fate of the world were being discussed, UK style.  I also enjoyed watching how the British parliament works, along with seeing all the sets, finding out information on his loving wife Clementine (played impeccably by Kristin Scott Tomas) , appreciating the lighting and cinematography.  But make no mistake, this is a very talkie film, but I think it is one of the best of 2017,  and I recommend it.   I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.  P.S.   Gary Oldman has best actor in a bag, in my opinion.  So maybe go see the movie for that, but once in there, I think you'll enjoy the story, too!

"DARKEST HOUR"      2017  PG-13     2 hours and 5 mins

Winston Churchill's stirring defiance of the Nazi threat is the focus of this historical drama that depicts his fearless refusal to surrender Britain to Adolf Hitler and his relentless army during World War II's early days.
