Movie #1468 "Wonder Woman" --- I know many of you reading this do not agree with me, but this is a film I didn't think I would like, and guess what? I didn't. I was told by many that I would after telling them that I don't appreciate the genre, and I didn't appreciate any of it, really. I am not interested in superheroes (D.C., Marvel, whatever), not interested in movies that culminate in fighting. Yes, I am all for a strong woman, but I value different strength ---- not what is in this movie. I couldn't even see past all of this fighting to see any value in film techniques. Truthfully, I kept watching to hope for something else, but all I felt was: when will this ever end? I must admit the opening was okay ---- I guess my interest was piqued to watch Robin Wright (Princess Bride) in such a rare part in a film, wondering why she took the role, imagining all the combat stuff she had to learn and do......but that was about it. Then, it was just one fight after another after another. I have liked some previous Chris Pine work, but he seemed to be in here for eye candy to me (like a beautiful woman in a male, testosterone-filled film that we've seen hundreds of times before). It's just a genre I don't care to see, so I won't ----- although Thor looked intriguing and I heard it had a good sense of humor. What happened to the superhero films that were ready to laugh at themselves? And had maybe that last fight, but did much more character work to get there? 3 stars out of 5. (and PG-13???)
"WONDER WOMAN" 2017 PG-13 2 hours and 21 minutes
