Movie #1472 "Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" first season, WAS a wonder! I loved this show. We binge-watched it in a week in December. From the pilot (which is, in my opinion, the best of the shows) to the end, what great......... sense of humor, character development of most of the characters, (esp. Mrs. M, her parents, Joel, Susie and Lenny Bruce), music, setting, costumes, energy, pacing, beautiful shots and transitions, etc. But esp. what great storylines, infused with an excellent sense of humor. Hold on to your hats because it is very fast, but it is so rich in all the filmic tools, too. It is so much fun to see life in the 50s ---her work in a department store, the tv shows they have on in the background, all the music! The clothes she wears. But most importantly, what it was like to work your way up in a comedy club, while also working AND trying to deal with two kids (well, thanks to her mom and dad for always being there to watch them) --- I am also in love with the character Suzie (which is kind of ironic to say on so many levels!) What a fun character! Even though it is so uncomfortable to watch comics have a bad night, I value this show because it presents the pressure-filled life of a comic -------- more than any of the other films I've watched on the subject! Can't wait for Season 2 ---- 5 stars out of 5.
