Movie #403........................."Dogtooth"

Movie #403 "Dogtooth" is like watching a crash occur --- you don't want to watch but curiosity pulls you to it. This is full of abuse, which is NOT something I usually watch, but since this is nominated for an academy award, I thought I should stick to the end. I was glad I did because up to the last moment, I would have given the film a one or zero star, but the last minute moved it up a whole notch. Aside from the ending, the movie is full of disgusting scenes. Here, let me describe one to you: a father catches his daughter watching some porn films (that he uses in his relationship with his wife), and as he is chewing her out and asking questions, he is putting duck tape around the videotape ---- for what, you are wondering. Then, all of a sudden, he is hitting her on the head with his hand attached to the tape --- boom! boom! boom! Enough! That's just one of many scenes full of abuse. According to critics that gave this film 90% on rottentomatoes.com, this is supposed to be a comedy ---- are you kidding? Well, this viewer missed it (oh, there are some comical scenes like the father explaining that rabbits are killer animals and the kids are to stay away from them) but the majority of this is just disturbing. Let me put it this way: If you enjoyed watching "Happiness" then I guess you might like this one --- otherwise, stay away from this "too dark for words" movie.
