Movie #2106 "Attica" (HBO/Showtime) Once again we have an oscar-nominated documentary that's too long! What a surprise! This is very hard to watch, but very topical ---- about protesting and prison uniform. The film plods slowly for a good hour going through various attempts at negotiations after Attica, the prison, is taken over by the prisoners. A few of the prisoners beat up Quinn, the guy on guard that evening where they broke in --- the prison administration is willing to negotiate until.....Quinn dies and it becomes a homocide. The last two minutes are so hard to watch because it's real footage of what happens to the prisoners when they give up. I'd give this film 3.5 and recommend it to only a few who can sit through it. I don't think it's going to win anyway.
