Movie #2091 "Three Songs for Benazir" (movie theater - oscar-nominated do shorts 2022) - this was a tough one to get into because the opening was so badly done --- doc shorts oftentimes have problems with dialogue because it is loosely scripted or mumbled in the moment, etc. But this was like they had memorized a script and were reciting to each other --- and they aren't good "actors" because doc shorts don't use "actors" per say. Anyway, the songs are for the love he has for his wife while they are both living in a displacement camp in Kabul. Shaista, the main guy, really has a big dream to be the first of his tribe to join the Afghan National Army , but he is struggling with the idea of leaving his new wife when they are just about to start a family. It is supposed to show how hard it is to be in Kabul and still keep your dreams of a better job or a full family or as in this case, both. This one was weakly done --- a 2 out of 5.
"THREE SONGS FOR BENAZIR" 22 minutes Afghanistan 2021
Even as Shaista's love for Benazir is palpable, the choices he must make to build a life with her have profound consequences.
