Movie #2089 "Audible" (movie theater - oscar-nominated documentary shorts 2022) = the film is narrated by a deaf football player about his one season leading up to the homecoming game; he plays for a very successful deaf football team, but also deals with the grief the team has been through with the self-inflicted death of his best friend on the team. "They use being deaf as their strength" says the opposing coach to his team during his half time speech. And that is one point made in the film --- it's really like heaven to have these team members who so easily communicate with each other on and off the field , but what happens after they graduate? what happens when dealing with all the discrimination that's in the outside world --- the teammate who killed himself found it impossible ---how will it be for all of these guys? to be inaudible in an audible world ? This film does what a doc short should do ---- make us think. I'd give it a 4, and it could possibly be considered the best of the bunch.
