Movie #2093 "The Queen of Basketball" (movie theater - oscar-nominated doc shorts 2022) Louisa Harris --- ever hear of her? Her parents were sharecroppers and she was 6 foot and the only black student on the Delta State (Mississipi) women's basketball team. She was the first woman to be asked to be on an NBA team and she turned it down to raise a family --- and she did a fine job of that, and went back and coached at her school she played on --- she just died in January, but she is the warmest image we saw on the screen in all of these films. I wouldn't be surprised if this one takes the oscar; she pulled us in where the others had trouble. It looks like it would be "Audible" or this one that will get an oscar --- they both tell good, strong stories and it's ironic that they are both on sports. And that I liked them more than the others (because I usually get bored with the sports ones). 4 out of 5 on this one.
"THE QUEEN OF BASKETBALL" 22 mins. 2021
She is one of the greatest living women's basketball players. 3 national trophies. Scored the first basket in women's Olympic basketball at the '76 Olympics. Drafted to the NBA, but have you ever heard of Lucy Harris?
