Movie #1264 ........................."Mrs. Miracle" (Debbie Macomber's)

Movie #1264 "Mrs. Miracle" (Debbie Macomber's) -- cute Christmas film that kind of reminded me of "Mary Poppins" or "Mrs. Doubtfire" --- not near as good as those two, but all of them have  a nanny who changes the behavior of some incorrigible kids.  The big difference with Mrs. Doubtfire is the strong possibility of the use of magic, which I don't like as much at all.  Now it worked in "Mary Poppins" to me because it is a musical, which is "magical" in itself, but  in this one, the magic  seems manipulative --- i.e. the way to move the storyline ahead.  The conflict is  doubled , both dealing with Man (or woman) vs. his/her past ---- both of  those secondary storylines seemed manipulative, too, but the director did manage to move the film  along so we didn't notice it that much --- The two women, the lead Erin Karpluk and Doris Roberts were both very good, but the guy is a stick --- I have felt that in everything I have seen him in on t.v. (the last being CIS cyber) -- they had to work around him, which they did, so the film worked out --- I would give it 3.8 out of 5.  Fun, family movie that has a sideline about theater, which I most enjoyed~

"MRS. MIRACLE"    2009 ---- 1 hour 32 minutes, 3.8 stars out of 5

This charming family film, based on Debbie Macomber's popular novel, tells the story of bereft widower Seth Webster, whose lively 6-year-old twins are taken in hand by a nanny they dub Mrs. Miracle. Could she be the Webster family's guardian angel?
