Movie#1967 ........................."Dream Wife" (TCM)

Movie #1967 "Dream Wife (TCM)  --- I thought I had seen all of the Cary Grant/Deborah Kerr films they made together (the best, of course, is "An Affair to Remember") , but this one popped up so I had to dvd it and watch it.  It was pure silliness (as you can tell if you read the short plot line below).  Especially tedious scenes occurred when the princess he is to marry can't speak a word of English --- and then, there are the scenes where she learns about freedom for females from Deborah Kerr, the chaperone and state representative assigned to the merger.  But all is well when the two wonderful actors (Kerr and Grant) come together in their scenes, and they have some good ones at the beginning, when he thinks he is being ignored by her because of her busy job (echoes of another famous duet Hepburn and Tracy in "Woman of the Year"?) and finally, the one at the end when you can see they are so comfortable together and belong together.  I'd give this a 3.5, but it is well  worth the watch to see these two in action together again.....in more a  comedy than the tearjerker famous one they did together.

"DREAM WIFE"       1953      1 hour and 40 mins

A business tycoon decides to wed a Middle Eastern princess whose customs dictate the pair must live apart for several months before marrying; even more complications settle in when the tycoon's ex-fiancée is assigned to chaperone the pair.
