Movie #1943 ........................".Irrestible" - saw it on Amazon Prime for a price

Movie #1943 "Irresistible" ---  treated ourselves to a movie at home (since we can't see it in the theatre yet)and this is John Stewart's political farce with Steve Carrell and Rose Byrne.  We liked it.  The film really makes a quick study of the way campaigns are run these days, with Steve Carrell going to a small town to work on the electability of Chris Cooper, who is running to help out his town that is in need of money. Vs. Rose Byrne, who is running the campaign for the incumbent mayor,  who does very little but drink with his cronies at the local bar.  There's much humor surrounding the two leads, who handle their parts quite well, and there are enough twists and turns in the story to keep you watching.  It has a good ending.  Critics are being pretty hard on it but I had to keep in mind that political movies are usually not well received.  You are bound to offend someone along the way, but I think both sides would find humor and likability in this film.  I'd give it a 4  out of 5 --- it's smart and smarmy and fed up --- much like John Stewart  (and the attitude  many of us have toward politics  these days).

Movie #1942 ........................."The Money Heist" (netflix streaming) t.v. series 15 episodes, Part ! and 2

Movie #1942 "The Money Heist" - netflix streaming t.v. series, 15 episodes, Parts 1 &2.  We got sucked into this show by the end of episode 1, but we must admit that we watched 1 minute of it a while ago and passed on it because it would be watching all subtitles because  the show is in Spanish --- and being Spanish, it goes super fast, as well.  So we weren't up for it that night.  But then, I was reading how popular this show has been, and that there's even something you can stream that is just about the phenomenon of this show, so we decided to look into it --- and that's when we got sucked into it.  We were watching 2 and 3 episodes a night, at 45 mins each.  The cast grows on you, there are little homages to the best heist films like "The Sting" -- and its twists and turns, well, most of them , work as a surprise --- you never know where the  story is going.... and it keeps busy.  Oh, there are a few times that the story slows down for a discussion, and the t.v. show is full of flashbacks, so  you have to keep attention with what's going on, but the payoffs are worth it.  There  are about 15 episodes before you get to the completion of the heist - so yes, it is dragged out, but most of it makes sense.  Just once in a while we would stop and say to each other, well, that seemed a dumb move, and realized  it was to make a turn somewhere to keep the  story going at an energetic pace.  We are now watching Parts 3 and 4 and wondering where it will go next.  Will report on that later.  I give this 4.5 out of 5, and we highly recommend it to people who like heists films. And to people who are looking for something different in storylines.
