Movie #96........................."Sherlock Holmes"

Movie #96 "Sherlock Holmes" I saw early evening and my head is still reeling, an amazing rendition, good special effects/cg, entertainment in every way, and most people would find it a wonderful escape film, as did I. My only complaint with the film is the overuse of fight scenes. Now, in an action flick, that's more than expected, but I didn't expect as much in a Sherlock Holmes film, where attention is to detail, using the brain and not the fists, well, at least not as much. In the books, isn't he a fighter of the mind? an astute observer, so far off the charts in intelligence that we needed Holmes just to follow the story? Not so much here. He's more the mentalist/ psych (per t.v. shows) , an observer, but he does some not- so -smart things at times, and this viewer was surprised, and a little disappointed with that. But that only made it a 4 in my eyes --- it's still great fun!

Sherlock Holmes

Robert Downey Jr. stars as the legendary London sleuth Sherlock Holmes, joined by Jude Law as dear Dr. Watson, in this Guy Ritchie reinvention of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's oft-adapted detective series. Based on a comic book by producer Lionel Wigram, the story follows Holmes and Watson as they face off against the villainous Blackwood (Mark Strong).
