Movie #106........................."Answer Man"

Movie #106 "Answer Man" doesn't have all the answers. It's an indie romantic comedy so how creative can it be? You know where it's going as soon as you meet all the people, but the very capable and charming cast makes it seem new to us. I tried to find out the history on this one because it went from being nominated at Sundance to going right to T.V. and then to France this past year and most recently to play on demand at netflix....so what's the story? I couldn't find that answer either, but I think it might be the subject of religion that it tries to tackle. Maybe a little too controversial? So if poking fun at the questions of God, Heaven and Hell would insult you, this movie is NOT for you. I found it easy to watch and care about the charismatic characters that we follow in the film so I found it very enjoyable.

The Answer Man
Arlen Faber
(2009) R
Reclusive author Arlen Faber (Jeff Daniels) -- who's intentionally been out of the spotlight since he penned an inspirational self-help book two decades ago -- finds himself in need of spiritual healing in this quirky indie romance. Though everyone still looks to Arlen for answers, he's an emotional cipher without a clue … until he meets an angst-ridden, overprotective single mom (Lauren Graham) and a recovering alcoholic (Lou Taylor Pucci).
