Movie #3405 "Abuja" (theatre) This is a second oscar-nominated live action short for 2025. All of these really had one underling thread --- none of them had complete endings, really. That is, the viewer wonders what happens next, and this one had the most questions at the end of it for me. I wanted to know more, and that is reflected in my score for it - a 3.5 out of 5. It is about a little girl working in a sewing factory who is obviously smarter than that job --- when offered to take a test, the film shows all the pressures that would keep her from taking it. The little girl and her older sister are very charming to watch, and the film seems to reflect real life in their village But a stuck life, with very little place for advancement without education. Their boss is not good and supportive --- using women to get the job in his garment factory done. All that is shown, but it's too bad the ending doesn't help the viewer with questions I think remain.
