Movie #1580 "I am not a witch" --- not a good choice at the Milwaukee Film Festival for me to see. It sounded somewhat interesting from the description in the booklet , and it started out kind of in an intriguing way, but from there, it just went on and on, and became so silly of a premise, that I wasn't sure what to make of it --- it seemed more under science fiction or fantasy. This was billed as the UK's official entry for this year's foreign language film Oscar. "It is a perfect parable for our modern gender struggles. Drawn up on spurious charges of witchcraft, young Shula is sentenced to life at a state-run witch camp. Tethered to a long white ribbon meant to keep her from flying away, she soon becomes a political pawn used by the superstitious camp director, forcing Shula to choose between a life spent in bondage or risking it all for freedom." Sounds bizarre, and it is....with no emotional pull to care about Shula in the film because it is a very stoic performance of most of the people in the film. I give it 2 stars out of 5.
