Movie #3217 "The ABC's of Book Banning" (theatre, oscar-nominated doc short, Paramount0 This is the one I most enjoyed --- I loved this one because of the blurb at the beginning that says that we have heard a lot about book banning, but usually from the banners. So let's hear from those most affected, the kid readers. What a great idea, and these kids are so articulate and intelligent in their comments ( some are funny, too) The film compares the book burning during Hitler's regime to what is happening today... and through the film I got a big list of books that I have started reading already that are on the list that have been banned since this movement has taken off like a house afire. "To ban a book is to give it power' -- theme of the film! I also learned the three areas of banning; restricted, challenged and banned. And in all the transitions of the film and any gaps, there's a book's image put on the screen and labelled one of those three. Very powerful film and my favorite,. I would like to see it win next Sunday and I'd give it a 5!
