Movie #3215 ........................."The Barber of Little Rock, USA" (theatre, oscar-nominated doc short)

Movie #3215 "The Barber of Little Rock, USA" (theatre, oscar-nominated doc short)  this is a documentary on Arlo Washington, truly an economic warrior, bound and determined to not only be worried about the generational poverty problem, but eager to do something about it.  So he starts up a loan company that lends money to people (esp. blacks) who can't get  loan from a bank because of past hardships.  He convinces us in the film this is the way to go because he can see in Arkansas, where he works and lives, that we are all economically segregated.  I loved the theme and in full support of this program ---- the film was a tad too long, but well done.  I'd give it a 4 out of 5.

"THE BARBER OF LITTLE ROCK"    2023     35 mins.    oscar-nominated doc short  (you tube)

The Barber of Little Rock expires America's widening racial wealth gap through the story of Arlo Washington, a local barber whose visionary approach to a just economy can be found in the mission of People trust, the nonprofit community bank he founded.  Experiencing the effects of generational poverty and structural racism firsthand, Arlo understands his hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas, and the profound mistrust of financial institutions that have historically excluded his community from financial stability and economic mobility.  Operation g as the sole bank within a ten-mile radius, Arlo's People's Trust fosters economic progress for underserved and underbanked residents, providing an economic beacon of hope that could reshape the future of banking.
