Movie #1084 "Taxi" was a 1930s film that showed its age, esp. in the characterization of the taxi driver who is trying to fight the mob who has come into the city to take over their jobs -- he's played by Jimmy Cagney, who at this time was known to shove grapefruits into his costar's faces -- this time he puts a fist to the lovely Loretta Young's face and threatens to hit her several times, but it is used as a joke, which was never funny to me. I was mesmerized by Loretta Young's acting --- I was a big fan of hers when she had a t.v. show during the early 60s. I knew she was talented, but she might be the biggest chameleon in holiday at the time because she could play the holiest of nuns or the doll moll here, copping a brooklyn accent. But she is able to get across the kindness of the character by just a look --- he camera loves her, and that shows in this film. She loves her boyfriend so much that she'll do almost anything to keep him safe! I wouldn't recommend it to many because there are better films on this kind of subject, very few surprises, but Ms. Young is fun to watch, if nothing else.
