Movie #2033 "Meet Me at Christmas" (Hallmark) --- It seems "the thing" this year in Hallmark movies is to use flashbacks, set up a story, and then tie it in to the modern day story. This one introduces a congenial guy and girl who spend the whole day in their young lives flirting and enjoying each other's company. They are supposed to meet back at the carnival rides to continue their fun, without knowing each other's last names, and the girl shows up, but the guy doesn't. But it happens to be the night that she meets another guy whom she ends up marrying. Then, flashes forward to the same beautiful chateau that was part of the scenery in the first scene, and the woman is now grown up and they are planning her son's wedding..........and the girl he is marrying brings her favorite uncle beau to help ---- you can probably guess who Uncle Beau really is, but I don't want to say anything more, except this is one of the best storylines that I have come across in these Hallmark films. It was a cool idea. But, the female lead is so set against this uncle beau, and he tries so hard, that she becomes annoying, so that's the one drawback to me. The story gets bogged down a bit, too, esp. when the conflict depends on misunderstanding was his overheard --- something that is used way too often in these hallmark films. It stands to reason, another drawback, is that the storyline depends on a bunch of coincidences that the viewer is expected to go along with --- once you do, you'll enjoy the rest of the film. I'd give this a 4 and recommend it, due to storyline being different than others.
