Movie #2030 ........................."Debbie Macomber's Call Me Mrs. Miracle: (Hallmark)

Movie #2030 "Debbie Macomber's  Call Me Mrs. Miracle" (Hallmark)  This one, like all the Debbie Macomber films, is  cute.  Of course, it all depends on a story full of coincidences, so if you don't want to see a movie that  hinges on "miracles,"  this one is not for you.  In my opinion,  this has everything going for it ---an adorable little boy whose dad has been deployed and he is now staying with his aunt .  If that isn't enough stress on her, she has a dress designer boss who refuses to listen to her advice and try to sell to the majority of the women in the world who wear bigger sizes than 8's.  Meanwhile, she has met the good looking and congenial son of the owner of a big department store who may lose his job if he can't sell out all the toys in the toy department by xmas eve.  There's a lot going on in here, but it moves very seamlessly from one story to the next --- the glue that is holding this all together is Doris Roberts --- and she is revisiting the character Mrs. Miracle which she played a year before this.  I must admit this film brought a tear to my eyes when a soldier surprises his kid, and to me that makes it a wonderful movie for the season (heck, for this year, actually) because it enables us to feel along with the situations and the characters.   It allows us to examine our humanity.   That's one of the big things these  Hallmark movies should be doing, I feel --- to get us into the spirit of the season.  I give this 4.5 out of 5.

"DEBBIE MACOMBER'S CALL ME MRS. MIRACLE"  OR "MIRACLE IN HANHATTAN"

2010    1 hour and 30 minutes     4.5 out of 5

No one celebrates the holidays like Emily Merkle - or Mrs. Miracle as she is known by some - who is back to ensure that this Christmas is the most magical and meaningful of all. When Mrs. Miracle appears as a seasonal employee in the toy department at the financially troubled Finley's Department Store, neither the store's owners, nor the customers, have any idea of the events that are about to unfold. Just when it seemed Christmas might not come at all this year, Finley's favorite employee proves they don't call her Mrs. Miracle for nothing!
