Movie #849 "Anchorman 2" was a bit better than I anticipated. Taken into consideration that this is a comic fluff, it really has several laughs in it, and they are mostly character-driven. Of course, it is a given that everything is over the top, and that wherever Ron Burgundy & his crew go, raunchiness ensues (like choosing which condom Brick should use on his first date with Kristin Wig). I didn't go much for the humor surrounding how he treats his son....and blindness.......and, well, the list could go on, but I did like how they laugh at themselves while staying true to their characters. And the addition of Kristin Wig, who is a tour de farce (forgive the pun) herself, esp. when she works off of Carell (it's the Despicable 2 duo again!) The film is a big long, and it really didn't need the long gang fight (homage to the first one), but I guess audiences expected it........ but really this audience member just needed the intros of all the groups, and not the actual fight --- that went on way past the line.....But altogether, it was fun to watch with an audience that appreciated it so much (esp. Dave), and it was somewhat warm in the theater, and it was cold outside, and well, you get the idea. I left the theatre contemplating if the legend would, indeed, continue. And I wasn't too upset about it if it did!
I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars.
