Movie #844........................."The Country Teacher"

Movie #844 "The Country Teacher" was a movie I picked up for a dollar at a blockbuster closing and finally got to seeing it today while Dave was watching football. It is Czechoslovakian, and it was a bit disappointing that for the title, there were only about 2 or 3 scenes that took place in the school. That being said, I thought this was very, very slow moving, and quiet, but the film had some good moments. My favorite was three strong able-bodied people pulling with all their might a newborn calf out of its mother's stomach! That was something to see! The wife, the kid and the teacher are all very good actors and kept my interest, as well. There are some things that happen that we don't know why in the film, and that's my reason for the 3 stars (instead of 5), and like I said the tempo is slow, but all in all, I'm glad I saw the film. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to anyone, though.

The Country Teacher 2008 NR 113 minutes I would give this 3 out of 5 stars

He soon develops a close friendship with a widow named Marie (Zuzana Bydzovská), who has a teenage son (Ladislav Sedivý). But Marie is interested in romance. The teacher is confused about his sexuality, and the tensions come to a head when his former lover arrives, demanding to know why he broke off their relationship.
