Movie #1617 ........................."The Christmas Pageant"
Movie #1617 "The Christmas Pageant" -- well, I saw Melissa Gilbert was the lead in this film, and that it concerned her directing a play in a small town, and those were good enough reasons to put this on my watch list . But oh my gosh, there are some not so good scenes in this........ the conflicts surrounding the theatre project were silly and over blown, but it was fun watching about the subject anyway. The guy of course had a cute little girl who seemed smarter than anyone in the film. But watching Half Pint makes the rest of all of this inconsequential. I would give it 3.8 out of 5.

Movie #1616 "Once Upon a Christmas Miracle" --- I must say in search for different stories, Hallmark hit upon an odd subject here --- a girl with stage 4 liver cancer is in need of a donor and voila --- Chris enters --- good looking, a selfless man looking for a reason to live --- so he gives her his liver --- they fall in love and get together --- not much conflict, and not much more to the story, but I liked it and the leads were charming and fun to watch. Then, in the credits we find out it is a true story, and that won me over a bit more. I'd give it 3.8 out of 5.

Movie #1615 .........................."A very nutty Christmas"
Movie #1615 "A Very Nutty Christmas" -- oh boy, they are getting worse. I thought this would be a cute one, but it wasn't. Not at all. Well, except for Barry Watson, who plays the nutcracker, and Conchetta Farell, who plays Hart's neighbor. But the script is dopey, the lead, Hart, is awful --- I am not sure why she ever had her own show --- she is always in one mode of speaking --- not a strong actor, and the secondary people are goofy ---- And the story doesn't go anywhere, but then when I sat down and read the synopsis of the Nutcracker itself, it doesn't seem to go anywhere either. I have a feeling if I were a big fan of the Nutcracker , I would probably have enjoyed the nuances here, more, but all the time I was watching it, I couldn't get the "Kate/Leopold" film out of my mind because it seemed to be about the same type of film. I would give this a 2.5 --- only thing worth watching here is Barry Watson, and when he isn't in the film, big gap. not recommended. I wouldn't bother, unless you are a fan of the Nutcracker.

Movie #1614 "Christmas Harmony" --- this one has an implausible script, way too much music, and two leads that seem uncomfortable even when they are in love. Most of the secondary people are annoying , too. Bottom line: not much here, so I don't recommend it. 2.5 out of 5

Movie #1613 .........................."Snow Bride"
Movie #1613 "Snow Bride" --- I was just about ready to turn this off in the first couple of minutes because it looked to be full of shallow people --- she was working for some gossip rag and she was in competition for the scoop on this wealthy family's news so..... she just jumps in a car and drives recklessly through snow and slides into a snowbank --- she has work out clothes on so she is freezing (what a dimwit) and she puts on her friend's wedding gown that is in her trunk to keep herself warm --- then hurts her foot kicking the car and proceeds to fall down a big hill and knocks herself out --- rich guy comes to her rescue and she continues to come across as silly --- he thinks she''s a runaway bride and she lets him think that. And that's when I was going to turn it off, but then it took a more intriguing turn for me --- his brother enters the cottage with his new girlfriend (who happens to be the cute rich guy's former girlfriend, so he introduces the snow bride as HIS girlfriend for the weekend..... so now they are both lying. And that doesn't exist a lot in a film, so I guess I wanted to see how they would work the whole thing out. She obviously gets more integrity, and he falls for her (not sure why) I like the witty way it all played out, and the guy was charming, and I got used to her (she makes way too many phony facial expressions, though). I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it worth your while to watch it --- IF you can get across that silly opening. P.S. also the theme about rich people oftentimes being down-to-earth is a good one to learn --- and it isn't really a fun life to be followed everywhere!

Movie #1612 ........................."Shoe Addict's Christmas"
Movie #1612 "She Addict's Christmas -- this was a huge disappointment to me because I usually like the two leads when they've been in other films, and the movie comes from a book that did pretty well on Goodreads, but I didn't take to this one at all. It has stilted dialogue that even these two good actors can't get past, and the story just came across as dumb to me. Jean Smart plays some kind of angel, and she isn't used well at all ---- she should bring a spark of interest to each of her entrances, but she doesn't. I can't say much more, but somehow they got to the Hallmark ending, but I couldn't tell you how that happened ---- it just did. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Movie #1611 "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" --- rottentomatoes has not been kind to this movie, but I found it quite enjoyable. I didn't read the book so I can't make that comparison, but I did see the first one , and I can say that this one is much darker. Johnny Depp as Grindelwald take the stage quite a bit here , and he's scary. It's still fun to watch Eddie Reddymane and all the other quirky people we met from the first one (although I thought the love story with Eddie was going to advance a bit more in this one). The creatures still appear in the strangest places, the special effects are quite impressive, and the story races from one predicament to another. I found it quite entertaining, and I would give it 4 out of 5.
