Movie #1300 "The Night Manager" -- we rented this from the library after seeing that this particular miniseries won all three golden globes for the three main actors nominated: Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, and Olivia Coleman. It is very good. It has 6 episodes, each 52 minutes, and they are all full of John Le Carre intrigue and twists and turns and memorable secondary characters. Of course, like all t.v. shows , that first episode is a toughie because you are learning all the names of people and places and trying to get a handle very quickly on what is happening, but after that, it becomes clearer, and that's when you start to bite your nails as the story builds to every surprise you see! We really enjoyed watching this as the time flew by , and we were sorry when we got to the end --- rumor has it, that if John L. writes a sequel, all the actors would sign on to do, because they had so much fun doing it, as well. And you can tell. I have sat through a lot of movies based on this author's books, some I have liked more than others, and oftentimes, they are tough to follow completely, but I always feel better informed when I am done, and this was an example of that. I highly recommend this miniseries, if you have the time to watch it. And the library and netflix have the two disc set.
