Movie #3588 "Blue Moon" (netflix) This is mostly an all dialogue story that unfolds in one set --- small number of actors come into the scenes, Ethan Hawke stays in that place through the whole film (one visit to the bathroom). The film is nominated for his acting, and he really takes on this role very passionately --- changes the way he walks, sits, talks, etc. This film made me so interested in learning even more about this composer --- what a quirky , intelligent, narcissistic alcoholic this Lorenz Hart is shown to be in this film. And what a sad person , at a very sad time in his life --- the beginning of the end.... the opening night of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Oklahoma!" the first show Rodgers does without Hart as his partner for several decades. Rodgers proves he can do it without Hart, but both Hart and Rodgers and many others in the bar know that Hart is the better lyricist --- probably one of the best there ever was. Even Hammerstein knows he can't do better than Hart. And that is very sad. This movie drew me in emotionally, and I would give it 3.8, but if I just judged it on Hawke's acting, it would have been a 5. This movie is not for everyone, but I found it very different from what we usually see in our films.
