Movie #3571 .........................."The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry" (netflix)

Movie #3571 " the Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry" (Netflix) I had read and enjoyed this book for book club several years ago, and then I saw the film based on the book was streaming, and so I made sure to see it (in between all the Academy award -nominated films I need to watch in the next couple of weeks).  I loved this movie as much as the book, but it isn't for everyone because there's not that much action in the film .  It is indie in spirit and sparse on story.  It is about a man who gets a note from a person in his past, and when he writes her a note back and takes it to the mailbox, he decides to just take it and deliver it himself --- by walking 350+ miles to her.  That's pretty much the plot, and it's difficult to explain just how the book and film are able to conduct the story and keep the interest of the viewer while he is just walking..... but it happens.  There are a couple of suprises along the way, but this film is truly character-driven, and the two wonderful English actors who play Harold and his wife do the film justice -- they are amazing to watch and they really draw us in to this "little" story.  I would give it a 4.5  because it drags a bit in the middle, but rewards the watcher with a powerful ending.
