Movie #2154 "Bad Education" (netflix dvd) For the longest time this film was in my queue labelled that I had seen it and gave it a 4. Well, my queue must be a mindreader because I am giving it a 4, but I hadn't seen it before. This is a must see for Hugh Jackman fans because it really shows off what he can do --- he is so charming while being a not-such-a-good-guy in the education world. This story is based on a true story about the most money embezzled in the land of Education (Betsy Devos, where were you?) by a superintendent and his co-worker, played by Allison Janney (she's always good). This film has what I would term a "wild" tone --- never settling on one; asa result, sometimes you are sitting in horror, while others you are laughing. It's serious business bilking a school system, but then the people who are so involved seem to be doing a good thing for the school system --- but is it worth your integrity? your soul? On the surface, the superintendent seems concerned about the students, the parents, the schools in his district, but under the surface there are so many secrets he is hiding..... What occurs will make you sick, but the way the story unfolds and what Jackman and Janney and other supporting people (shout out to Annaleigh Ashford, one of our favorites!) do for the film, will entertain and engross you in this film.
