Movie #1389 "Force Majeur" -- what a stylish foreign film this is! I had heard about it for a couple of years now, but since I was going to see this swedish director's newest film at the chicago film festival the next day, I wanted to see what I was in for . All I had heard about the film was that there's a family skiing on a vacation in the Alps and on the second day, they experience an avalanche, and things are never the same...... and that's all I will say. But this director is so interesting in how he gets across the quiet moments --- he lets the film play out so that reality sets in so clearly. The two main actors here demand our attention, and they never disappoint. His films tend to run a tad long, and yes, this could have been edited just a tad more so it ran shorter, but otherwise, I found the experience of watching it quite enjoyable. However, this is not a film for everyone --- it might be very slow to many people --- it might be short on script and story to others. It is a film lovers' cup of tea, I think. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.
