Movie #988 ........................."Nowhere Boy"

Movie #988 "Nowhere Boy" is surprisingly about John Lennon, his high school years and his relationship with his real mom, and his aunt and uncle who really raised him.  After his uncle dies, to whom he is closer than his cold aunt (played wonderfully by Kristin Scott Thomas), he starts to seek out info on who his real mom is and why she gave him up.  This is all occurring while the backdraft is John putting together his first bands and his connecting up with Paul McCartney.  Don't expect Beatles music, or even John singing, because the actor sings and plays the music most of the time, but you will hear Lennon's  first tunes, and you'll get a good sense of the very young John Lennon and how gutsy, creative, charismatic, sensitive and troubled this genius was, even at an early age.

Nowhere Boy2009R98 minutes     I give it 4 out of 5 stars
Raised by his aunt since he was a young boy, charismatic teen John Lennon is reunited with his mother, which ignites a bitter battle between the two sisters for John's affections. Along the way, John befriends fellow Liverpool lad Paul McCartney.
