Movie #40........................."Heaven Must Wait"

Heaven Must WaitPlayIn QHeaven Must Wait(2001) NR

After losing his job, his apartment and all self-respect, Raymond (Andrew McCarthy) learns that he's inherited a property in the English countryside. But when he comes to claim his estate, he discovers that it's in fact a small crumbling church. Settling into his new home, Raymond strikes up a romance with a local woman (Louise Lombard) and finds a shot at redemption in the form of a mysterious orphan boy named Diggity (Max Dolbey).

I give it a 2.0

Movie #40 --- Where did Andrew McCarthy learn to act? By watching old Gary Cooper movies? he says all the lines the same in this film (which doesn't have much of a story, and hardly anything original and little pulse ----very bland film). The best thing about the film is this little kid who talks to an angel, but his character isn't even fleshed out --- the crowning nail to the coffin for this film is in the awful song they play for the credits at the end ----if you get that far. It's a love story with no chemistry, very little characterization ----------it's ironic that in netflix, alphabetically, it is placed right in front of a far, far, far better film with almost the same title -------see "Heaven Can Wait" --- one of my all time favorite films and forget this one.
