Movie #1654 ........................."Tea with the Dames"
Movie #1654 "Tea with the Dames" was a fun documentary --- it's not stuffy at all -- very freewheeling, and how can it be anything else when these 4 "dames" get together: Dame Judi Dench, Dame Eileen Atkins, Dame Maggie Smith and Dame Joan Plowright. The Camera is on and they converse. They are funny, poignant, reminiscent, knowledgeable on anything to do with the theatre and film, and I thought fun to listen to. But this isn't a documentary for everyone. Occasionally, they drop names of people and plays, and there's no one explaining who or what those things are. So I guess what I'm saying is not everyone would be interested in what they are talking about --- but if you think discussion on people they have worked with, and shows they have worked on, and how theatre has changed through the years, then you probably would enjoy this doc. However, if not, don't bother, because that is the substance of their 1 hour and 20 min discussion. I give it 3.8 out of 8.
