Movie #1653 "The Green Book" -- I loved this movie! This is now on my list for one of the best this year, and it is so topical, even though it is based on a true story from the past. It's "Driving Miss Daisy" in reverse......switching the old age factor out and expanding more on the racism that is oftentimes working in the background covertly as these two mismatched people go on a journey that changes both of their lives forever. But make no bones about it, the racism is Overt, as well, and the audience, I'm glad to say, reacted audibly at times when it was shown on the big screen....just wish they would do it more when it happens right in front of them! Anyway, enough preaching, and more on the film.....the acting is superb! And the humor, even considering the subject matter of the film, is in full bloom here, since the guys are so much different from each other. There are so many memorable moments that it's hard not to mention them in this review, so I will leave them for you to see, hoping you will put this on your list to see; I've noticed it's disappearing in theatres right now, but perhaps if it wins at the Globes or is nominated for an Academy Award, they will bring it out again! And I wouldn't be surprised for either one...the film is THAT good! And what I most liked is how fleshed out both of these lead characters are, that by the end of the film, you feel like you went on this journey with them. Kudos to the director Farrelly, who up until now hasn't left a huge mark on the film industry (unless you consider "Dumb and Dumber" a classic) --- but what a story here, and loved the music!!!! I give it a 5 out of 5. (and I haven't done that very often considering this year's batch of films)
