Movie #1013 "Love is Strange" is definitely a movie about family dynamics with a loved one, a relative, who moves back in to share your house with your family ---- for example, how the aging uncle wants to talk to you while you are working from home. . The gay marriage is actually a small issue in the film --- yes, it gets Ben fired (he teaches music at a catholic school), but really, you forget Ben & Geoare gay, and that's what is good about the film. They act the same as any couple who are forced to live separately after being so close for 25+ years. And to top that, they are aging quickly. Those factors go into the way they affect the dynamics of the families they live with. It's a very sad, delicate story handled so well by the lead and secondary actors. A nice character study on a beautiful relationship. The pacing is a bit slow, and there could be a little bit more action for me, otherwise, well done.
Love Is Strange
I would give this 3.8 out of 5 stars
After 28 years together, Ben and George finally get hitched. But when the marriage raises controversy at the school where George works, he's fired. Unable to afford their New York City apartment, the couple is forced to live apart.
