Movie #1839 "Christmas Cupid's Arrow" --- I noticed when reading a synopsis that there would be an English professor involved in this one so it piqued my interest that the script might be smarter than most----- it was Cyrano de Bergerac! Yes, the female is very smart and yes she values the written word, esp. poetry. But she falls for the idea that a good looking guy is writing his own poetry just for her! There's a good switch here that a not so good looking guy with an adorable kid is really the one who likes her and should get her because the poetry comes from him --- It takes her a pretty long time for figuring it out (meanwhile, while she is confiding in a friend, that friend is going through a bumpy marriage --- that secondary story seemed just put in and not necessary to the rest of it. Guy with the kid had charm and good rapport with his daughter, girl is believable, just took her a long time to figure it out -- he has to tell her twice that he is sorry and that he really loves her ---- so that part seemed repetitious --- i.e., if she would only believe him, the end of the film could have come earlier! But overall, the film got points from me because some of the dialogue was smart, esp. between the professors! I give this 3.8 out of 5.
