Movie #3190 ........................."The Color Purple - The Musical" (theatre)

Movie #3190 "The Color Purple: The Musical" (theatre ) I loved the Spielberg film on this beautiful book, and I have had the opportunity to see the musical several times and enjoyed it every time.  So when the movie of the musical was being brought to the screen, I couldn't wait to see it, and I loved it.  From beginning to end , it was an intriguing, oftentimes joyous story of the rise of an oppressed Celie who just wants to be loved by someone.  I love the songs --- esp. "Hell, No"  which is Sophie's anthem through the show.  I marveled at how seamlessly the high-powered musical numbers are included in the story, and the acting across the board is pure delight.  (happy to see Jean Baptiste and H.E.R. in key roles!)  I don't get why this show isn't being  lauded more --- it was ignored at the Globes, where they have a category for musicals, and "Barbie" was awarded instead --- I liked Barbie, but it wasn't deeply moving like this show to me. And I am a sucker for the type of choreography displayed here ----" in your face "is the way I would describe the very physical dance routines in this movie, and I hope it gets some recognition in the weeks to come --- I highly recommend this one!  5 out of 5. PS -- I am usually not a fan of Taraji P. Henson (often seems too big for the screen ) but this part was controlled and just big enough for me!
