Movie #802 ........................."Prisoners"

Movie #802 "Prisoners" --- this is a very intense film with a message  about not taking the law into your own hands no matter what the situation..........that being said, there is a lot going on here, but I felt the script had a lot of holes in it.............inconsistencies with characters, easily guessable situation, "out there" turns and weird, unsettling ending.  However, the acting is really good --- love to watch, esp. Jackman with Gyllenhaal --- but the secondary people are as good, right down the line with Viola Davis, Terrence Howard, Maria Bello, Melissa Leo, and Paul Dano.  Wow!  such a cast elevates this film and makes you care what happens in every frame ---- just wish the script was tighter and better and had more consistencies with the character.  (for example, with such a deliberate, conscientious detective, how can he miss background checks of main people?  Checks  that would have prevented a lot of problems he had to  deal with along down the line?  Some basic stuff missing here that has a lot of the audience shaking their heads, me included.  But good acting, and that usually helps to elevate a mediocre script --- that and good photography --- hats off to Deakins, one of the best in the business!

Prisoners2013R             I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars
