Movie #714 ........................."Arbitrage"

Movie #714 "Arbitrage" is a good suspense thriller and maybe the best acting job we've seen from Richard Gere in a long time --- maybe ever, and it's too bad it's Daniel Day Lewis's year, I think. Anyway, he is able to do despicable things in this film, and still be likable enough to keep interest in what he is doing next in his desperate situations he puts himself into. It's somewhat a formula; i.e. we've seen most of this already, but in the hands of the cast, it's still very effective. CEO's without any moral fiber intrigue me --- I wonder how someone can be so cold and greedy, even if it affects his family, and that is what is under the microscope in this film. And the character I found most fascinating is the African American guy who comes to Gere's aid halfway through the film. I'd recommend this, and in fact, after getting it from red box and seeing it myself last night, I suggested Dave see it when he got up in the morning and he liked it, too. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. Now desperate and running out of options, Miller turns to an unlikely source for help.
