Movie #675 .........................."Salmon Fishing in Yemen"
Movie #675 "Salmon Fishing in Yemen" is not a film for the action loving film goer. It is very slow, tedious, and one wonders why it was ever made ---- it is somewhat charming, but that is provided mostly by the cast. As far as a love story, I wasn't quite sure why they fell in love, to be honest, except they spent some time together, but their sharing of anything didn't seem to exist in the story --- at least not that much to convince us that she leave her very good looking boyfriend who seems to have little faults, and McGregor is married and granted, he doesn't seem very happy, but the relationship looked like if they worked on it, it just might get better. So, I guess what I am saying is that the love story didn't really work for me. So what is left? The Salmon fishing is such a weird subject matter, it is the only thing that interested me ---- that, and Kristin Scott Thomas, who turns in a great performance here. Other than that, not much here so I wouldn't recommend it much.
I gave it 3.2 stars out of 5
