Movie #3410 "I am Ready, Warden" (theatre) Is the 2nd Oscar-nomiinated short documentary I watched and it was effective, but was confusing as to its message at the end. I think it was just supposed to show both sides of the issue of capital punishment using one It starts at 6 days before this man is to be executed and it goes through his story and also the film follows the victim's son. The high point is when we listen to the final comments the executed man says to the victim's son before he dies. Very powerful and very confusing to him as to his reaction --- it kind of is the point --- this has never been a black and white issue to many people, including me. There are witnesses and there doesn't seem doubt he killed the man brutally; he even says that many times in the film, but he says he's changed. But in the final note he says, if it gives the son closure, than he should die. Interesting film, and I'd give it a 3.8.
