Movie #3409 "Death by Numbers" (theatre) Now for the oscar-nominated documentary shorts - this first one is the best one, I felt. I'm not sure it will win, but it was the best, in my opinion --- most emotional for me. It dealt with following very briefly , the courtroom trial of the Parkland school shooter, through the eyes of one of the victims - Sam Fuentes. If she hasn't written a book of her poetry reactions to this tragedy, she should because she certainly has a way with words, and her comments are heard throughout this short film. She starts with numbers and ends with them, including the number 17 for the students/teachers that were killed. She is a witness , and it shows brief excerpts from other witnesses as well. The high point was really effective because Sam got to tell the shooter off in the court -- she put into words what many of the students and adults greatly affected by his tragedy had felt. It was a wow moment. I give this film a 5 --- really well done.
