Movie #572 "Of Gods and Men" was not a movie I liked --- the pace was way too slow for me. It started slow, that I had to start stop start up again a couple of times. Then halfway through, I got that feeling that I thought it was going on forever. I'm not sure what the Cannes Film Festival liked about this movie --- the monks are interesting when they get to talk, which is rare (because they are monks), and it is a true story, but "emotional" I didn't see. I don't recommend it.

Awarded Grand Prix honors at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, this compelling historical drama relates the ordeal of seven French Trappist monks in the mountains of Algeria who are taken captive by Islamic fundamentalists. Before the monks' abduction, they have ample reason to believe they may be in danger, but their assumption that there can and must be common ground between Islam and Christianity leads them to remain at the monastery.
