Movie #498 ........................."A Fine Romance" Disc 1

Movie #498 "A Fine Romance" I recommend to fans of "As Time Goes By" also with Judi Dench. But I like that one a bit more, mostly because of the characters -------I missed all of those. But if you like awkward moments in love stories, oh my, this is a great find. And to know that she is doing this show with her real hubby makes it even better. And she sings the theme song! I don't find the sister and her husband interesting at all, and there are long, long pauses (because of the awkwardness). But I did find it quite enjoyable, and in fact, I was on the floor laughing at the 3rd show when she lost her contact on the floor in a restaurant. There's more physical humor in this show, and that can go hit or miss quite often, and that's another big difference from "As Time Goes By" but once again, it is something you might want to check out, if you like the other show and British humor and, of course, Dame Judi Dench!

A Fine Romance: Set 1
(1981) NR
Dame Judi Dench and her real-life husband, Michael Williams, star as mismatched couple Laura and Michael in this wry, early-1980s, veddy British television series. A comedy of errors keeps linguist Laura (who's translating a German textbook on urinary infections) and struggling landscape gardener Michael from hooking up romantically. As usual, Dench is a prickly delight. The first season contains nine episodes.
Genre: TV Shows, British TV Shows, TV Comedies, British TV Comedies, Sitcoms
This show is: Goofy, Romantic
