Movie #3028 "Empire of Light" (HBO) This film could have been so much better, and was better in the hands of Woody Allen in "Purple Rose of Cairo" because they both pretty much have the theme that the movies can make a bland life come alive. This film could have been better with Olivia Coleman at the helm, but there are some icky moments (like the opening) . However, the love story is very different because it is really love between two friends, and that was kind of interesting to watch. Other than that pacing seemed uneven, and the film tended to lag more than take off with a story. 3.5 out of 5.
