Movie #2105........................."Bridgerton" (season 1, netflix)

Movie #2105 "Bridgerton" (season 1, netflix)  This is very stylish, lavish in costume and scenery (production value is very good!) and full of intrigue.  What sets it apart, I think, is that it deals with a newly married couple who has trouble with showing their love for each other.  Of course, in romances, it becomes annoying to see that every time they try to confront their issues, someone or something interrupts them ---- thus the 8 episodes!  But just that the subject is being covered and talked about makes it a bit different from other shows.  However, there is so much more of the story here.  It also deals with pressure from the press (in that time period), men's roles and esp. women's roles of the time period, pushy mothers, manipulative fathers, marrying someone considered "worthy" by your caste, and many more subjects.  However, all with a very diverse cast --- that is something else that makes it stand apart from others.  And the cast is quite competent.  It took me a long time to like the two main actors --- they still aren't my favorites, but I've gotten used to them now --- I realize I am in a minority here, because the guy (Rege-Jean Page) has become something of a universal heart throb on social media.  (On SNL I did notice his musical theatre skills!) But he's easy on the eyes and SHE (Daphne) is quite different in a Queen's Gambit kind of way with her big eyes and pouty face.  As far as the plot, it takes unbelievable leaps and bounds sometimes and yes, there are stagey (come on, this isn't Shakespeare!) speeches, but the relationships are a bit complex, and there is a lot of sex and lust.  I'd give it 4 out of 5.  (don't judge me!)
