Movie #1349 "Painless" --- another movie I saw at the Phoenix Film Festival centered itself on a subject I had never seen on a movie screen --- the disease that a small fraction of people suffer from --- they are born painless ---- and all the problems that go along with that medical problem. So much so that a very intelligent man suffering from it is constantly striving to find a cure, and his life is full of research and development on the subject. He works with a doctor, but when that doctor doesn't seem to be working fast enough and won't do some things to go further in his testing, the painless man has an offer from another doctor that he finds difficulty in turning down --- to the detriment of his own health. How far will someone go for the sake of science? Throw an interesting love story into the mix, and you have a good, solid drama --- I'm not sure if it will ever be shown anywhere, though. I tried to get it to our Naperville film festival to no avail. Too bad, because it is an interesting watch. I give it 4 stars out of 5.
