Movie #1225 ........................."Lost in Paris"

Movie #1225 "Lost in Paris" was one of the 5 movies we watched at the Chicago Film Festival this past week, and it was the funniest one we watched, but it was quite silly in several moments.  It is centered around a Canadian woman who dons a huge orange backpack and a green wool dress with big white gym shoes to go to France to find her aunt who called her and said she needed her help --- that she didn't want to be put in a nursing home.  In the first few moments that this woman plants her feet in Paris, she asks a jogger to take her picture on a bridge with the Eiffel Tower in the background.  While he continues to jog and tell her to take a step back, she falls over the bridge ----- the film continues its merry way with one mishap following another --- some absurd, some actually tie into the story (the search for the aunt) , some just plain goofy and the film  leaves the audience wondering why that  dog is in the film, or why the homeless guy she eventually falls in love with carries around the aunt's two fake jeweled earrings...... and so many more questions...but one thing it succeeds at is memorable moments, and there were two big ones here:  1) the dance scene --- never saw anything like it before... 2) the funeral for her aunt, or she thought it was, but it really wasn't
I give this film a 4 ---- french subtitles, goofy sense of humor, but could have a tighter story.
