Movie #1211 "Hail, Caesar" was another Coen brothers' attempt at a different genre --- and I think it did the musical part of it well ---- the comedy, not so well. Pacing was slow and there weren't enough pokes at the genre and the time period in Hollywood to make it that funny. There were some bits --- esp. with Tilda Swinton and the musical number with Channing Tatum, but honestly, it was a tough one to stay awake through. The sets were cool, and you could really feel the time period as you watched it, but otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it. That's too bad, too, because the trailer was one of the best I have seen in a long time. Made me want to see it. Now, I'm not so excited! 2.8 out of 5 stars.
