Movie #1195 "Bad Moms" was a hoot! Raunchy, but thoroughly enjoyable, with some social statement to make, too. But I think this one might depend on whom you are seeing it with..... I went with two of my female buddies (both of them are moms), and we all laughed and snorted (and in one particular scene almost fell on the floor, but I couldn't relay that scene to you here!) I'm not sure if I was on a first date or even if Dave went with me would I have found it as funny. Surprisingly, this is a male written/directed film, because it hits so many true and realistic notes. But then, when I look back at it, the extremes (which I tend to see as way over the top and just plain ridiculous) probably fell into the stereotype of what guys might think females act like when they are alone and among their own species..... once and a while I would wince when a comment was made that bordered on "abuse of a child" (like the "go play in traffic" comments) but it is meant to be all in good fun and as long as you go in feeling this is "fluff" and not a documentary on the problems in parenting, I think you might enjoy it. I can't speak for all men. I would guess that some guys might enjoy this because they share the parenting.......but fair warning that it bashes the stereotypes of the bossy, the lazy, & the careless parents (mostly men, but sometimes women (albeit, they are few, I hope, of all of those) for the sake of comedy. It certainly points out how unselfish & dedicated good parents are, and how it all comes down to loving the kids, even though you might not like them at times. And how much kids change , and how then your parenting skills have to change to accommodate their changes. Yikes, HOW DO YOU GUYS DO IT? Now, I'm thinking you deserve to see a film about all that you do, and that you need time to let go ----so this would be an ideal date away from the kids and a great discussion over drinks, reminiscing all the "times" you guys have put in together (and that you have in front of you) of parenting. Go to it --- it's a lot of fun. (rotten tomatoes rated it high, as well, so I'm not the only crazy here! I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
BEST MOMS 2016 rated R (definitely!)
Looking behind the veneer of perfection, sought by modern American mothers, this comic tale follows a trio of fed up, under- appreciated suburban moms as they set out to liberate themselves, leaving their parental responsibilities behind.
Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn, Kristin Bell, Christina Applegate...... all at the top of their game, and all who raise the script a level or two.
