Movie #630 ........................."The Hour of the Gun"

Movie #630 "The Hour of the Gun" picks up from where the famous film "Gunfight at OK Corrall" ends, and I had never seen a film on the results of the big gunfight. The results can be summed up in one word: revenge. And if you have read many of my other movie blogs, you know how I feel about the theme of revenge ----- a very thin, derivative focus for a film, and even though I ordinarily love James Garner and Jason Robards (and their scenes were the only things getting me to continue watching this one), that really wasn't enough to keep me interested here. Yeah, the plot thickens when Earp figures out that he can't get revenge by being on the right side of the law ---- but when he discovers that, the film just goes through the hoops to the finish. If you are interested in the history of it, you might like this, but like I said, the acting is good, but that's it. 3 stars Hour of the Gun (1967) NR Notorious Wild West gunslingers Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday hunt down the vengeful Clanton Brothers in John Sturges' sequel to Gunfight at the O.K. Corral. When the Clantons gun down Earp's (James Garner) brothers, the lawman turns into a vengeful vigilante. Earp organizes a ruthless posse and brings aboard as his deputy gambler Doc Holliday (Jason Robards), who tries to keep the enraged Earp on the right side of the law. Genre:Action & Adventure, Westerns Availability: DVD
